Arts and the Innovation Economy: St. Louis’ Competitive Edge

October 6, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am

The nonprofit arts and culture sector is a $590.9 million industry in the St. Louis region – one that supports 19,129 full-time equivalent jobs and generates $57.7 million in local and state government revenue. Nonprofit arts and cultural organizations are businesses in their own right. Join the Regional Arts Commission and FOCUS St. Louis for a lively discussion about how our creative economy is making a huge impact in St. Louis and how the arts are fostering a more competitive and innovative workforce for a variety of industries in the region.

Keynote speaker Robert Lynch, President & CEO of Americans for the Arts, will provide a national and regional overview of the recently released Arts and Economic Prosperity 5 Study (AEP5). This study, the fifth conducted by Americans for the Arts, documents the economic contributions of the arts in 341 diverse communities and regions across the country and here in St. Louis. To complete this customized analysis for the Greater St. Louis Area, the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission joined the study as one of the 250 partners.

The event will also include a panel discussion of leaders in technology, arts and innovation; panelists to be announced shortly.
